Job Title : Lead Engineer - Instrumentation & Controls (15+ Years)

Role Definition : Roles at this level are Team Leads, leading / managing a team of experienced and entry-level engineers. Teams typically peform similar type of work with diffference in the discipline and nature of projects. This role requires domain expertise of the specific discipline
Key Role & Responsibility : Proposal & Project Execution - Create concepts, execution plans to provide robust technical and cost effective solutions specific to the project / customer - Analyse contract and examine relevant scope and interfaces - Early identification of risks and implement mitigations - Participate in budget and execution schedule review - Estimate cost and concept for proposals - Deliver quality deliverable and control budget and schedule - Develop cost effective, quality and HSE related concepts and solutions - Review critical calculations, specifications, concepts and approve project deliverables - Manage large size, complex project / proposal independently or supervise and manage multiple smaller projects / proposal teams independently Interface Management & Alignment - Co-ordinate with other EN disciplines and functions, vendors, sub-contractors, clients, PMC and entities - Co-ordinate and supervise quality of the the team and external partners - Work with matrix organization ie. reporting to Project/Engineering Managers for project matters and Line Managers for functional matters Development & Continuous Improvement - Contribute towards organizational quality, training and improvement initiatives and implementation in the projects, proposals - Participate as auditee during internal and external process and technical audits and accountable for closure of audit, implementation of preventive and corrective actions - Conduct technical meetings with the department for know-how backflow and lessons learnt People Management - Plan, manage resources including task assignment to project team members within the project - Monitor, coach and develop team to enhance overall capabilities Additional Tasks - Support DH in administrative tasks, recruitment, learning and development, department competency enhancement
Additional Responsibility : Large Project size: MHs - 25,000 to 45,000 / 15+ Mid- Size Projects of high complexity 2 or more small size projects
Education qualification & Experience : 1. Bachelor of Instrumentation / Electronics Engineering with 15+ years or Diploma in Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering with 20+ years of experience 2. Site experience will be an added advantage
Technical Knowledge : Executing various phases of project Cost awareness Field Instrumentation, selection and sizing of flow meters and control valves Control and Switch Valves Analytical Systems includes Analyser Shelter / House Control Systems, Shutdown Systems and Fire and Gas Monitoring systems Machine Monitoring Systems Tank Gauging System I&C of large size package units with their own control and safety system Procurement Activities I&C Construction Engineering Site Supervision, Loop Check, Commissioning Assistance In-Depth knowledge of International Codes & Standards Good knowledge of SPI (InTools), Safety Life Cycle management acc. to IEC61508/11 Good knowledge on relevant suppliers in the Indian and international market Must have an experience as Lead of a large size of Oil & Gas, Refinery or Petrochemical projects Min. Team size handled - 10
Preferred SkillSet : Responsible for execution & management of all activities or areas related to Instrumentation & Control in the large size project including global workshare set-up Independent execution & management of the detail engineering, specification, procurement assistance, execution tasks up to end of engineering scope. Prepare project execution strategies Identify & perform department specific Risk management Review, approve, guide and supervise basic and detail engineering, ensure compliance to contractual requirements, design basis, codes & standards, local regulations Review and respond to technical queries raised by Client / PMC / Customer Establish effective and efficient interface between Project Management, Client, Suppliers, Contractors and all other internal and external stake holders Reviews the contracts thoroughly, identify and resolve discrepancies from original proposal through the initiation of technical queries to projects/client. Participate in HAZOP study, SIL studies, P&ID review and 3D model review meetings Able to settle disputes among the team, suppliers and contractors Monitor and control all key project performance indices against the stipulated targets Guiding and mentoring trainees and junior engineers Conduct regular lessons learnt sessions and team meetings Managing task for preparation of various quality procedures, standards development, updation of workflows and enhancement of department knowhow Manpower and resource planning including task assignment to project team members of his/her discipline Regular monitoring of quality, HSE, schedule, quantity and cost aspects of all running projects Provide clarification and guidance and technical support to construction sites and commissioning engineers to provide startup assistance as required Soft Skills: Good Leadership skills Able to take decision and execute Excellent written and spoken communication skills Negotiation and conflict resolution Positive attitude & approach Team player with good interpersonal skills Independent, self-starter Able to operate in multi-disciplinary environment Cross cultural communication sensitivity Learning aptitude
