Job Title / Position : Lead Engineer (Piping Material)

Skill Sets :

Preferred candidates shall have:

a. Good leadership traits and communication skills in English language.

b. In-depth knowledge of all interdisciplinary engineering activities including workflow, critical milestones and critical input and output documents and drawings.

c. Leading experience in the execution of large size projects (wherein around 50 or more pipe classes are involved).

d. Must have hands on experience in making pipe wall thickness calculations, valve datasheet preparation, branch reinforcement calculation and preparing detailed piping specification.

e. Thorough knowledge of various international codes and standards and their applicabilityc. 

f.  Must be able to make technical negotiations with vendors and should have good knowhow of vendor network and their capabilities.

g. Knowledge of Reference database and Marian is preferred. However, candidate must be able to work in computer based material control system.

h. Readiness to travel for short term/long term assignments to Linde's various offices or sites.

Note: Candidates who have applied in last three years need not apply again.

Software Tools & Technology : Marian preferable
Targeted Industries : Candidates from EPC consultancy organizations dealing with chemical plants will only be considered suitable for this position. Pharmaceutical, sugar plants & exclusive experience of power plant related piping materials activities shall not be considered. Candidates having experience in design department/purchase department of construction contractor or plant owners shall not be considered as suitable for this position.
Key Role & Responsibility :

Lead Engineer is mainly responsible for following:

a. To control engineering quality, ensure the progress & schedule of piping materials related activities in large scale project (piping material tonnage in the range of 10k-30k ton and dia inch in the range of 10M). 

b. Has to ensure smooth interface and has to work very closely in task force environment with all the related engineering, procurement & construction disciplines. For global work share execution, many a times few of these disciplines could be in other design offices of Linde world wide.

c. To interpret and apply different code requirement into execution.

d. Should have fair knowledge of different piping strength calculations.

e. Should posses overview of manufacturing process of piping components and vendor surveillance for piping material, has to work in close coordination with vendor to ensure project and Linde interest.

f. Is required to prepare/guide team for detailed piping specification work based on the base material specified in basic engineering package. He / She has also to make suitable decisions/resolve conflicts to choose between company standard practice and PMC/client requirements or practices followed in local market. Such deviations need to be identified during bidding stage and suitably resolved with client.

g. Has to prepare/guide special part specifications and coordinate with related disciplines for required inputs, should have idea on cost drivers of piping material and optimisation orientation.

h. Has to prepare Inspection and test plan for piping components, and approve deviations. Handles inspection of piping special parts and valves.

i. Will be responsible for guiding and controlling the team of 5-10 engineers, will be responsible for database in Intergraph - Marian based material control system, also responsible for timely preparation of MTOs and further procurement related services like MRs, technical bid evaluation, purchase order specification and vendor drawing review. 

j. Carry out vendor audit for the selection of qualified vendors.

k. Training the team members on new practices in piping materials.

l. Carry out proposal engineering related tasks like review of ITB, hardware & man-hours estimation.

Age Group : 35 to 45 years
Experience Bracket : More than 15 years of experience in piping material specification and technical negotiation field for chemical plants (with min. 2 projects as a lead engineer). Experience of maintenance, operation, construction will not be considered. Candidates having experience of only quality assurance and / or testing shall not be considered.
